Education - 'The way it is & the way it should be'

The main focus in here is the way education is today and the way we want it to be . So basically what do you think is education? Don't open a new google tab and try a quick google search(although this might seem to be the right way) we want your own definition and the way you think the society which you live in or your government defines it . Les's start a debate on what it is and what it should be . I think of the following points of major concern although feel free to add and delete as many as you like in your comments . Remember every small opinion counts .

• Is it all about getting a degree?
• What does the middle class think?

Sorry for the Break...Lets start afresh!

Sorry guys I've not been able to do some posts recently due to some personal reasons, but I'm all set now to get this blog back to it's shape and very purpose. Also I truly expect some enthusiastic participation form your side specially the technical people and thinkers. Every idea no matter how odd is seems can be a great one if with the right person. Invisible

Concept:-"Making things (and also yourself) invisible."
Well you don't need to go to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry to learn to become invisible. Maybe you could do so by paying attention in your science class or watch a movie(G.I. Joe).
1)The concept of invisibility used in the film is simple- Photograph everything behind you and put it in front (although you have to think about how will you make a camera to do this).
2)The second video uses Persistence of vision which make the blades of a fan disappear.
3)The third one is somewhat similar to the first.

Science is very near to absolute invisibly and they have already taken the first step.

Wireless electricity

Concept: "Wireless transmission of electricity from one place to another."
I have no idea how could we do this, but if it could be done it would be a truly remarkable invention.

Hey! you forgot to lift you side stand

About 36% of these accidents are due to negligence in lifting the side stands(I got that from the internet). So the figure is enough for the automobile companies to try and find a solution to that problem. How about this - when the person straightens the bike from the side stand, the decrease in force on the stand pushes a button(or some thing of that kind) which causes it to move back in position. Well if they say this is not possible then try to make it possible or find some other way to get the stands up.

Mobile cum computer

Concept: "A new computer(or some special settings on an old one) that starts it real quick."
Mobiles are real handy devices. Just unlock the screen and there you have all the features. This is where PC's fall. Although there are computers that boot quickly, but it's not as quick as a mobile. So does any one know an setting which can make the computer start real fast and load all the unnecessary stuff later after showing the desktop reducing start time. 

A perfect paper display

Concept: "Real eye friendly displays for long readings."
What type of display does a calculator use? It does not emit it’s own light. Is it possible to use that technology to create displays of computers and mobile or a device like an ‘eye friendly novel reader’? By the way we do have a good reading display offered by ‘Kindle’ ,but I’m not sure(actually I’ve never used that device) if kindle is as friendly to the eye as a printed copy of a book.Concept: What type of display does a calculator use? Pollution control

 Concept: Pollution- Do trees have to do all the work?

Install devices on the roads and areas of air pollution which will feed on the harmful gases and convert them into paste or some useful substance. Thus helping control air pollution. Come on you thought us many reactions involving CO2, CO, etc in high school and college may be some of them would help! (If not you could always do some research on it, if you are from a relevant field to the above topic.)

Search songs by phrases

  

 Concept: "I don’t know that songs name, but i think it had the word enchanted."

Add a feature or a format in songs  by which  we can identify or search them by typing a certain phrase in the search box. This can be done by adding a subtitle like file with the original audio (or even video) song file.
P.S - Well yes we have a google service that does most of it but not all right?

Line by line e-reader

 Concept: "Adobe Reader- It could become a real reader friendly reader." 

       Introduce a read line by line feature in adobe reader which allows the user to read a large chunk  of text like a novel line by line by putting a horizontal line below each line the user points his      mouse. This way he can track the text (s)he’s reading and will not get lost. Sounds simple but can prove very helpful.

Train delay SMS

Concept: "An SMS service informing train delay for passengers with reservations."
Train delay is a very common thing in India. Though it does not affect much people who travel without reservations as they can easily find other train as an alternative to the usual, people with reservations are stuck. Currently the railway website irctc provides the position of train very efficiently, but of course nearly half the population never goes to the site to see their trains position and delay. Now a days messaging is nearly free. So it would be very easy for the website to send a SMS to all the people who have made reservations in case the train is late say more than half hour. And this obviously save a lot of the passengers time!

India needs a 911 number

Concept: "We need a single emergency number in India too."
Many countries have a single emergency number , but India has a many different numbers for different cases. Also the government make no special efforts for people to know that such numbers exist. The new government took a step to reach people and created https://mygov.in/ (whose OTP feature is frustrating) to enable people to share their views and give a kind of feedback to the government. Hope the government realizes the need for a universal emergency helpline number and also spread awareness among the people about existence of such numbers.

Online elections... Why not?

Concept: "Easily vote for your favorite representative without waiting in long queues"
With every thing going techno today why do we still have to stand in long queues to give our opinion about who should form the government? Of course they would say there are problems with identity  validation, but it cannot be impossible. What do you think are the reasons we don't have that system yet? Comment below. To be continued...

Democracy

Concept: "A website which helps people decide which party to vote for depending upon the work the party did on their topics of concern."

Many countries follow democracy where people have the right to vote and hence choose their own government. But does democracy make the most efficient government or the most popular government? Often people vote the government they like(the one who advertises their party effectively) without knowing what the party has done or plans to do. But where do we go to find out what is the truth. I think there should be a website, something like 'votethemright.com', preferably made by some news channel which can get access to the history of most of the parties and the work they have done, the scams they made, members of the party who were found guilty in a crime(e.g. corruption), etc. Thus common people who vote will have all the truth in front of them and they can decide what to consider what to ignore. Thus forming a truly effective government.

Quick Heal bug

Concept: "Quick Heal need to fix this problem or their parent control feature is useless..."

There's a way you can turn off quick heal antivirus without knowing the password...
Open your windows search and put in 'msconfig' (for windows). Now this works well for windows 7(I've tested it only on this OS), i cannot say about others. In the startup tab deselect all the programs with the word 'quick heal' also deselect all the services at start up. Now restart your computer and quick heal never starts. The main problem here is the parent control feature becomes insignificant even though it has a password. Hope the Quick Heal team quickly heals this problem.
